Life is Short Flys The Gold Burgee !!!

Friday July 11th., 2008.
The Gold Burgee signifys the completion of The Great Loop and we will fly it with pride.
We travelled 6,035 s. miles, traversed 105 locks, 375 days, 4,429 U.S. gallons of gas, and 445 hours of engine time. We travelled through 16 States and never missed a thing !
A TRIP OF A LIFETIME !!
How lucky are we ? No bumps, no bruises, the boat was amazing and ran like a top. We replaced one ignition module, four batteries, two light bulbs and one toilet valve. Thanks to the best Captain and mechanic ever !!

Crossing Our Wake, Closing The Loop !!

Friday July 11th., 2008
We stopped the boat in Lake Simcoe (and it was very calm), and popped the cork on some Champagne. We had a toast and a little tear in our eyes to have completed the "Loop". We are filled with pride and accomplishment to have done this wonderful trip. Words can't explain the feelings we are having, the memories will stay with us forever. We are glad to be getting home to see all of our family but wonder what other adventure will be next for us.

Lock # 40, Thorah

Thursday July 10th., 2008.
We spent the day cleaning. Dave cleaned all of the windows and I cleaned all of the upholstery. We had a nap in the afternoon and then went for a long bike ride. We had a lovely dinner with Peggy and Ken complete with a farewell poem from Ken, he really is a poet! We are having a hard time saying "see you later."
We will go out to Simcoe with them in the morning and then part ways. How would this trip have been for us without them ?

Lock # 40, Thorah

Wednesday July 9th., 2008
We went through five locks and stopped at Thorah. This is another one of our favorite spots to stay. We are getting close to Lake Simcoe and we want to savor every bit of the trip.
Peggy loves to exercise and here she is helping the lock master to close the gates on the lock. We enjoyed walking from lock to lock along the canal. They are only one mile apart.

Lock # 35, Rosedale

Tuesday July 8th., 2007
It was so hot that after dinner we went for a swim with Cider. What a couple of really relaxing days!

Lock # 35, Rosedale

Monday July 7th., 2008
Here we are docked at Rosedale Lock, one of our favorite locks. It is so quiet here and beautiful. The weather was hot and humid. We had supper with my cousins that live in Rosedale and enjoyed an evening with them.
